About Iyengar YogaIyengar yoga is open to everyone and is an enjoyable way to encourage good health and wellbeing. I teach all ages including children with special needs. My oldest students are in their 80's and 90's !
Iyengar yoga is a method which encourages strength, stamina, flexibility, balance, muscle tone, good posture and relaxation. The poses are precise and focus on good body alignment to aid physical health with maximum benefit to your flexibility, posture, strength and wellbeing. As yoga also involves breathing exercises, students often leave the class feeling lighter and calmer. Props are occasionally used to enable students to reach their full potential or to modify poses for people with specific problems such as back pain, joint stiffness, tight hamstrings or other mobility difficulties. The Tuesday morning classes are attended by both beginners and the more experienced students. Postures are taught from a simple stage and include intermediate stages to accommodate different abilities. Students are encouraged to participate at their own pace. The Thursday Gentle Chair Based Yoga class is for people who are unable to get up and down from the floor due to mobility difficulties or balance problems. The classes are held in the purpose built studio at The Wellbeing Centre which is conveniently situated next door to a large free public car park. For more information:-

About Christine Rumley
I have practised yoga for 30 years and have been teaching Iyengar Yoga for 13 years alongside my other job as an Occupational Therapist. I love meeting new people and I am passionate about the benefits yoga can bring to general health and wellbeing. The classes I teach at the Wellbeing Centre are small and friendly, which encourages a relaxed atmosphere. I am an experienced Iyengar Yoga teacher, trained to a high standard to teach one of the most widely performed methods of yoga worldwide. Qualifying in 20015, I have completed further training and successfully passed rigorous assessments to hold an Intermediate Level 3 teching certificate. I also take classes for students with special needs and am insured to teach children. My latest venture is running yoga holidays in the spring and autumn. |
