Welcome to SH Modern Pilates at The Wellbeing Centre, where you can enjoy Pilates classes in a safe and friendly environment.
Pilates works both the body and the mind; it's a method of exercise that will tone and condition the body. The benefits of pilates are: Greater muscle strength and endurance, improving physical ability Increased mobility and flexibility along with better posture and movement quality A reduction in stress levels, improved sleep patterns and weight management Improvement in lung function and the circulation Improvement in strength of the pelvic floor muscles Reduction in pain Reduction in recovery time with a repetative injury |
I hold a YMCA Level 3 Diploma in Pilates. My own Pilates journey started with a shoulder injury and the need to address my own pelvic floor health. I sought out a Pilates Instructor who could help me to overcome and deal with my own problems, which led me to train as a Modern Pilates Instructor.
I have a military background; I served 12 years in the Royal Air Force. I then left on completion of my service and our two children were born. I have also worked for Yorkshire Ambulance Service for nearly 14 years, working for their Patient Transport Department. I have always had an interest in keeping fit and my personal health and wellbeing.
